All you need is a dishwasher tablet! The oven will be like new again

1. Protective measures

Before you begin cleaning your oven with a dishwasher tablet, it’s important to take some protective measures. Although dishwasher tablets are designed for cleaning dishes, they contain strong detergents that may irritate sensitive skin. Wearing rubber gloves is highly recommended to protect your hands from potential dryness or allergic reactions.

Additionally, ensure your kitchen is well ventilated by opening a window or turning on an exhaust fan. This helps dissipate any fumes that may arise from the cleaning agents. Avoid inhaling the dissolved tablet solution directly, especially if you have respiratory sensitivities.

Gather all your materials beforehand to minimize time spent near the cleaning substances and reduce exposure risks.

2. Prepare the oven

Start by ensuring the oven is completely turned off and has cooled to room temperature to avoid burns or accidents. Remove the oven racks, trays, and any other accessories to allow easy access to all interior surfaces.

Next, brush away any loose crumbs, food debris, or burnt particles with a dry cloth or soft brush. This step prevents excess residue from interfering with the cleaning paste and improves the effectiveness of the dishwasher tablet’s degreasing agents.

If your oven has stubborn burnt-on grease patches, consider gently scraping them with a plastic scraper before applying the cleaning solution. Avoid using metal tools that could damage the oven’s enamel coating.

3. Dissolve dishwasher tablet

Take one standard dishwasher tablet and place it into a small bowl or cup filled with warm water—approximately 100 to 150 milliliters. Stir the tablet gently with a spoon to help it dissolve. The tablet will break down into a thick, soapy paste enriched with surfactants designed to cut through grease.

The warm water accelerates dissolution, but avoid using boiling water as it may degrade some cleaning components or cause splattering. The resulting paste should be smooth and spreadable, without large undissolved fragments.

This paste is your primary cleaning agent for the oven’s interior surfaces. Its grease-dissolving properties make it particularly effective at loosening baked-on food residues that ordinary wipes or sprays cannot remove.
